CARD GAMES RUMMY:

Rummy is a famous card game in France known as rami. It actually has a lot of variations. You can therefore devote yourself to gin rami, gin Oklahoma and kaluki among others.

All the variants of the game have some similarities. Rami is played with 2 or more players. You need two decks of cards containing one or several jokers which can be the value of your choice. Regardless of the variant played in rami you have to underplay the value of your hand. You have to place 3 card combinations on the table. It can be:

• a set: three of a kind or four of a kind
• A run: it can be a straight of the same colour (club, heart, diamond, spade) having 3 cards or more.

Experts do not agree on the origins of rami. Many of them think that it is based on the Chinese game of the 5th century B.C which also gave birth to mah jong that is these two games are similar. Others think that rami is based on the popular game conquain very popular in Spain during the 19th century. Finally certain authors believe it came from the United States. One thing is certain; it is in this country that it became really popular. In the first half of the 20th century, film stars really loved it which made it become very famous in the rest of the world.
