History of the boule

Boule is inspired from the reign of the casino. It draws it’s origins from its illustrious ancestor roulette. Thus if Blaise Pascal did not develop the actual system of this classic, the boule would not have seen the light of day.

The origins of the boule

In the first 20 years of the 20th century, French brick and mortar casinos proposed a game called “little horses”. However the latter did not have an effective system of play. People soon stopped playing it. A manager of the institution decided to replace this fading game with a new table. He had the idea to simplify the roulette so he invented the boule in 1923.

Popularity of the game

This new game became really popular. It was quickly introduced in other French casinos by replacing the game of “little horses”. Other countries also became interested in the boule such as Switzerland, Spain, Denmark and recently Macau. However, the game is not played in Anglo-Saxon countries.
